PATCHES & INSIGNIA

Below are some of the known examples of insignia worn by members of the Foothill and De Anza College Police (Safety & Security) Departments over the years.

The current patch was designed and implemented in 2001 after the consolidation of the two departments. The patch is CHP-shaped, with a blue twill background and gold lettering. In the center is a seven-point gold badge, with a full-color California state seal in the middle. Around the state seal are the words " FOOTHILL-DE ANZA COLLEGE DIST." At the top of the patch, above the badge is the word "POLICE." A gold stripe separates the word "POLICE" from the lower portion of the patch.

The subdued version of the current style patch was introduced in 2006. It is worn on black tactical and K-9 BDUs (Battle Dress Uniforms) in place of the full-color patch.

This patch was first introduced in 2005. It is worn by Police Student Aides assigned to the Bike Unit and the subdued version is worn by Police Officers. The PSAs wear the patch on the sleeves their royal blue polo shirts and the Police Officers wear them on the sleeves of their black polo shirts. Police Officers' shirts have an embroidered badge on the front and a large back patch that says "POLICE" in silver lettering.

The K-9 patch was introduced in 2006. It was worn on blue training BDUs and windbreaker jackets.

Subdued version of the K-9 patch. Also introduced in 2006, it was worn on black ripstop BDUs.

PCommunity Service Officer and Parking Control tab patches are worn by staff below the current style uniform patch. CSOs and Parking Officers wear light blue shirts.

First authorized for wear in October 2003, this patch is worn in place of the regulation metal badge. It is currently authorized to be worn on uniform BDUs, cold weather jackets, polo shirts, and baseball caps. It is a seven-point star, with silver bullion embroidery. The patch has a full-color California state seal in the center. The top banner has the word "POLICE" with " FOOTHILL-DE ANZA COLLEGE DISTRICT" around the state seal, in blue lettering.

This patch is round, with a blue twill background, with a white seven-point badge in the center. Inside the badge is the word "POLICE." Above the badge is the word "FOOTHILL" and below the badge is " DE ANZA" .

This patch was worn by members of the Foothill Police Department from about 1978 to 2001, when the current patch was introduced. The patch is CHP-shaped, with a blue twill background and gold lettering. In the center is a seven-point star, with the Foothill Community College District logo in the center. Around the logo are the words " FOOTHILL COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT." At the top of the patch are the words, " CAMPUS POLICE" , with "FOOTHILL" below.

This patch was worn from the early 1970s to 1978. The Department only covered Foothill College from 1978 until 2001. Patch designed by Cliff Balch.

De Anza College - Campus Security - This patch was worn by campus security officers from around 1998 to 2001. The patch is CHP-shaped, with a blue twill background and gold lettering. In the center is a seven-point star, with a full-color California state seal in the center. At the top are the words " CAMPUS SECURITY" and " DE ANZA" embroidered in gold. Note the unusual purple color used in the state seal.

De Anza College - Campus Safety - This patch was worn by peace officers at De Anza from about 1998 to 2001. It was worn on BDUs and cold weather jackets. The patch is CHP-shaped, with a blue twill background and gold lettering. In the center is a seven-point star, with a full-color California state seal in the center. At the top are the words " DE ANZA COLLEGE" and " CAMPUS SAFETY" embroidered in gold.

This patch was worn around 1998 to 2001 by peace officers working at De Anza College. It was worn on BDUs, polo shirts and baseball caps. The patch is round, with a blue twill background. In the center is a gold badge, with a full-color California state seal in the middle. Around the seal are the words " PEACE OFFICER" and " DE ANZA COLLEGE."

This patch was worn by Community Service Officers working at De Anza College from about 1998 to 2001. It was worn on BDUs, polo shirts, and baseball caps. The patch is round, with a blue twill background. In the center is a gold badge, with a full-color California state seal in the middle. Around the state seal are the words "CSO" and " DE ANZA COLLEGE."
